Cooperation with the Ukrainian Bar Association to develop a strategy for the restoration of the Bar after the de-occupation of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea
The Board of the Ukrainian Bar Association has approved the composition of the Working Group on the development of proposals and a strategy for the restoration of the Bar in the de-occupied Crimean peninsula. The Working Group includes:
1. Illya Kostin, member of the UBA Board;
2. Petro Kuchman, founder of the NGO "Krym.ua";
3. Sergiy Konstantinov, Leading Researcher at the Department of Private Law Research of the Research Institute of Lawmaking and Scientific and Legal Expertise of the National Academy of Legal Sciences of Ukraine;
4. Roman Tytykalo, Partner at MORIS;
5. Olga Kuryshko, Deputy Permanent Representative of the President of Ukraine in the AR of Crimea.
As a reminder, at the request of the Mission of the President of Ukraine in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, the UBA intends to develop strategic proposals and recommendations on possible challenges, necessary steps and measures to restore the activities of the Bar in the de-occupied Crimean peninsula, including those that can be taken now, before the regaining of control over this territory.

At its meeting on 26 January 2024, the Board of the Ukrainian Bar Association approved the Concept for the Restoration of the Ukrainian Bar in the De-occupied Territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol.
The draft Concept, developed by the Working Group on the Restoration of the Bar in Crimea after the de-occupation, was presented by Illya Kostin, a member of the UBA Board and a member of the above-mentioned Working Group.
"The restoration of the Ukrainian Bar in the de-occupied territories of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol is considered in this Concept, among other things, as an important component of ensuring the right to fair justice and proper access to legal aid for the civilian population of the Crimean peninsula, including those affected by the consequences of the occupation and criminal actions of the Russian Federation," the document says.
